Operations System analysis through Alteryx Auto Insights

 

Mission Statement

Our client provides accounting, tax, HR administration and global payroll services to businesses operating on an international scale.

Their “Operations System” is designed to track every task of every employee, comparing them to benchmarks and templating processes. This leads to huge datasets from hundreds of offices operating in many jurisdictions with differing operating requirements leading to different benchmarking.

In addition, a lot of this work is done via manual processes involving complex Excel spreadsheets. The client feels the process, as it stands, is inefficient, lacks the ability to apply KPI analysis, does not give time-series data and provides limited insights into their data.

Our goal is to help the client streamline this process and improve the data insights considerably.

Detailed Solution

The Operations System stores all data within SQL data tables.

We created an Alteryx workflow that allows data to be sent to Auto Insights more efficiently. The Alteryx workflow creates historical datasets and subsequently updates the master data. This process allows for more metrics to be added to provide an analysis of important KPI’s. This means that the data has been enhanced and engineered for optimal machine learning.

Alteryx has also built up a historical dataset from the SQL database to allow for an accurate model allowing long term trends to be analysed. These can be easily altered if changes to the Operations System are implemented allowing for easy maintenance.

The Alteryx workflow then pushes the new data to Auto Insights.

Auto Insights then allows the data to be filtered by specific criteria and locations, allowing office performance to be compared and to do root cause analysis into changes and difference performance in similar tasks.

Auto Insights provides automated AI dashboards and reporting of time-series data with the ability to easily drill down into KPI for key metrics allowing end business users to have access to important information without delay. These key metrics and dashboards are emailed to the relevant team leaders at 09:00 every morning
