Nikita Summer Blog

My first summer at Continuum has just wrapped up, and I’ve had an amazing time.

The internship was off to a quick start with my Alteryx Core Certification. The team were fantastic mentors, offering their expertise at every opportunity, and helping me to pass in just a few days. I also got to work on the Continuum website, writing use cases and creating a visual site map. I thoroughly enjoyed stretching both the analytical and creative sides of my mind- I quickly learned this was a core part of Continuum’s culture.

After an exciting first week, Dan set me a challenge- provided with a huge data dump from EVie, I was tasked to use Alteryx to analyse and present my conclusions back to the team. In the early days of my Alteryx training, this initially felt like a colossal task. However, I quickly picked up on the intuitive interface and within a few days felt like a pro!

Alteryx’s spatial tools were extremely useful for this project- I was able to create a comparison map between EVieBike trip destinations and Jersey’s cycle paths. This helped us to analyse where bike usage was highest, and where it was unusually low. It was hugely rewarding to use Alteryx to help my own community.

After this exciting challenge concluded, my Alteryx skills had greatly developed, and I was able to pass my Advanced Certification on my first try.

After an exhilarating 4 weeks, I was able to play some mini golf and have a meal with the team at El Tico- a lovely reminder of the welcoming team I’ve joined. Until next year!
