HR Reporting

As with Finance Functions, HR departments are ideal targets for Alteryx Desktop Designer projects;

  • HR Departments are not typically very technical, focusing more on people

  • Their data is highly confidential so cannot either be consolidated into reporting databases, nor given to internal developers to develop productivity tools

  • As a result, all HR departments use Excel for reporting costs, budgets and cost per head for profitability calculations

Full cost of employment

An International Family Office calculated their fully burdened labour costs for each employee in the business with a complex Excel workbook. Multiple dependencies were required to be manually transformed in order to fit a standardised template. This approach put huge burden on a relatively less tech native department, introduced errors into the resulting figures and wasn’t agile to change in business reporting requirements.

Introducing Alteryx, Continuum worked alongside HR resources and extracted data directly from source and enriched this with Excel salary details to repeatably calculate full cost of employment. By installing Alteryx locally in HR all confidential salary information were protected from leaking to the business, which typically stunts progress when working with in-house technology resource.

HR System Migration

A Continuum client were unable to implement new HR system due to data and testing issues and technology not allowed to see data so developing on dummy data. By using rerunnable, transparent business rules Alteryx is able to quickly provide new test data to the new system and reconcile against the old without the data leaving the HR department.

A project that was over-running by months went live within a month of Alteryx being introduced into the HR and testing teams. The new system now has a set of regression tests for any subsequent changes.
